This past Saturday evening, October 3, 2015, I had the opportunity to attend the celebration of Barry University's 75th Anniversary. A 1940's themed event held to honor the family of the founders and to allow the alumni, current students and community leaders to mix and mingle and celebrate 75 years of higher education and community involvement.
The host for the evening was none other than the Big Diesel himself, Dr. Shaquille O'neal. Yes I said DOCTOR. If you did not know, Shaq went and enrolled at Barry U and obtained his doctorate in education. The evening was full of speeches and musical performances by local bands and artists. The event's headlining performer was Haitian rapper and philanthropist, Wyclef Jean.
During the cocktail hour I had the opportunity to sit down with both Shaq and Wyclef. The interview times were short but I had the chance to get a few words of wisdom from both gentlemen.

The night went on with Dr Shaq's anecdotes, student and alumni testimonies and of course a very well received performance by the Preacher's Son, Wyclef. A surprise part of the show was a duet with Wyclef and Shaq. Click here for the video.
It was an honor being invited to such an illustrious and may I say SEXY event. The food and drinks were on point. The decor was amazing. And the interviews were a once in a lifetime experience. I wish Barry University many more years of success.
