On February 8th, I had the opportunity to attend Mimi’s Boutiq 4th Annual Fashion Show. The show was held at the Newport Beachside Hotel in Sunny Isles Beach, Fl. In previous years, modèl yo te defile at Moca Cafe, a popular Haitian restaurant/Night club in North Miami, but with the show’s growing buzz it was necessary to find a much larger space.

I had the opportunity to interview Merline Thermora aka Mimi, a local Haitian American fashion designer and the boutique's owner and founder. On Air with The Morning Drive crew, she shared with me the origins of her love for fashion and reasons for establishing the fashion show.
While the vendors and guests chatted and
took their selfies, I moved and mingled with the who’s who of South Florida’s
Haitian American social circles and made my way behind the scenes to chat with
models and designers and to steal peeks at what they had in store for the show.
The night was full of great music by DJ
Manny Mix, and Special guests Ada and King Arly Lariviere of the Haitian Kompa band Nu Look. Coupled with the
evening's hosts, Haitian Model/Activist Tico Armand and Radio Personality Carel
Pedre, the designer’s stunned the crowd with their latest trends. The models
were all beautiful and talented but one in particular stole the show with her
fierce attitude and strong walk, Ms Kate Citrone.
If you missed the 4th edition of Mimis Boutiq Fashion show
here are a few samples of the excitement and stay tuned to the 5th edition. Until then…
